Works fine on my box. Could you run: - gdb eog 03.jpg (gdb) run ... it starts eating CPU, press <Ctrl-C> (gdb) thread apply all bt and copy that to a comment -- Eog eats up enormous amount of CPU and RAM when opening a .jpg https://launchpad.net/bugs/42601
