Ok, I'm just trying to make it clear, no native speaker sorry.
Take a nautilus windows, list view or icon view. Imagine a folder full of misc stuff, I'm looking for somethin beginnign with "a" but I don't know how many other items are there beginnign with the same letter. So if I could cycle between items by pressing repeatedly the same letter would be very useful. Now this behaviour (btw which is used by windows explorer, and even in firefox forms), could be extended to combo boxes and other list widgets.
The current beahviour, if I understand it correctly, it's the same as in the open/save dialog but blind. 
I think a consistent behaviour would be very desiderable.
