I'm pretty sure that when I saw the bug I was running a gaim binary
which I built for myself anyway.  I wasn't finding it impossible to
connect to ICQ using the ubuntu dapper binary and nobody would accept
my patch to stop it dumping core, so I was running my own patched
build.

It's quite possible that this doesn't happen in official ubuntu
builds, but I'll mention it here if I ever see it again.
