Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33284

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Ubuntu Dapper (Flight 4) with Nautilus 2.13.92:

Nautilus tries to detect the file type itself without looking at its extension. This is well-meant, but the Problem with that it fails in many cases.
For instance, many (internet) radio stations offer a .m3u file that just contains the link to their stream (e.g. "http://live.onair.net/stream_high.ogg").

When I want to start the stream, I just get an alarm message that it is not an audio stream but an text file :-(
I want to assign this type of files to BMP, but it is not possible. I'm only able to change the default program of text files and the workaround with "open with.." mustn't be the final solution.

So I'm not sure, wheather this is a feature request (an option to turn
off automatic file type detection), or a bug report (not able to open
some files or rater, not able to turn off alert messages)
