How to reproduce:

1. Log into Gnome

Expected result

Normal startup of gnome session

Current result

*Very* slow startup.
Some applet icons in the panelbar starts to blink many times
After a while a error window is displayed with this error:

Algunas cosas como las configuraciones de temas, sonidos o fondo de
pantalla puede que no funcionen correctamente.

El Demonio de Preferencias se ha reiniciado demasiadas veces.

System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : El proceso hijo no dio
ningún mensaje de error, ha ocurrido un fallo desconocido

Gnome seguirá intentando reiniciar el Demonio de Preferencias la próxima vez que inicie una sesión.

Trying to run gnome-settings-daemon from the command line gives this
result:

$ gnome-settings-daemon --sync
