[Bug 49221] Unable to start applications after hibernation

Public bug reported:

Quite often, when resuming after hibernation, I am unable to start any
applications, there is zero response from the application. This is
highly annoying as it renders hibernation useless 50% of the time.

I'll provide an strace output of an application when I encounter it
again.
