[Bug 49208] totem crashes when playing video with vobsub subtitles

Public bug reported:

I have an XviD encoded video in an avi container. The video is suplied with vobsub subtitles. 
When I try to play the video, totem crashes. When playing the video without the subtitles it works just fine.

note: vobsub subtitles is subtitle format, where the subtitles are
stored in pictures. Usually vobsub subtitles come with 2 files, the
index file which has the ending *.idx and the file where the subtitles
are stored in which has the ending *.sub
