Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-xine

When opening totem (xine) without any parameters, it will crash after loading the GUI. Loading totem with a movie or song will work fine.
On startup, totem will load the GUI, and then a blue screen will appear where movies normally are. The blue screen appears for only about 1/10 of a second, then totem crashes. No error messages appear on the crash.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install totem-xine
2. Applications > Sound & Video > Totem
3. Watch the crash.

Terminal output:
jacob at linux:~$ totem
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 66 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Running totem --sync produces no additional output.

** Affects: totem (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed
