Hey.... So sorry for the massive delay in my response. It's amazing how
busy you can get, and how emails get lost.

In answer to your question - no... I do not use ati hardware.

However, I have since updated my dapper to edgy, the problem no longer
occurs. It was probably just a chance package configuration that for
some reason had the peculiar side-effect of rendering the folders as in
the screenshot.

It is quite unsettling that it happened, but, since I can no longer
reproduce it, probably not important.
