I have the same problem (bug #53598) with Intel 950 graphics on a Core
Duo laptop (ThinkPad X60s).  It is not a GL problem since it affects
Desktop animations.

It seems to be a problem with the 2.6.15-26 kernel but it is much  MUCH
worse with 2.6.15-26 686 than 2.6.15.26 386 (in my experience.)

let me repeat, it has nothing to do with GL...
