I was able to resolve this problem by changing out my sound card. I went from a Turtle Beach sound card to a Cobra sound card. The Audio Chip on the Turtle Beach sound card is a AU8830A2 Dave -- Could not get/set settings from/on resource. https://launchpad.net/bugs/52396
