[Bug 52520] unsupported file format

Public bug reported:

Gnumeric can no longer open .xls files. I always get a dialog saying:
"unsupported file format". I tried several documents, and openoffice and
excell open them perfectly. This used to work. Please fix.

This is on dapper.
