This is fixed with this upload:

 gtk+2.0 (2.8.10-1ubuntu1) dapper; urgency=low
 .
   * Sync with Debian
   * New version:
     - fixes some crashers with the fileselector (Ubuntu: #21509)
   * debian/patches/001_fs_documents.patch:
     - use GTK_DEFAULT_FILECHOOSER_DIR by default
     - if GTK_DEFAULT_FILECHOOSER_DIR is not defined use the "Documents" folder
