Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32903

Affects: hal hal-device-manager (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Assuming "hal-device-manager" (no clue)

Ubuntu Version: 6.04 Dapper Drake - Alpha i386 20060217.2
All suggested updates installed through today (2006-02-25)

Architecture = Intel x86 = IBM Netvista M41 (Type 6790 DRU)

Actions:
3 days in a row, I have started the machine and as a first task chose System...Administration...Device Manager. A GUI window appears with background colors but nothing more. Same exact behavior each time.

There is some kind of "failure" notice right after grub starts up that I
can't read. I was hoping to attach the /var/log/dmsg file, as that
seems to contain the text, but I don't seem able to do that. Here is
some of the text, although I don't know if it is related.
