[Bug 28991] drives icons on the desktop for dapper?

on my up2date dapper, the places menu also doesn't show my optical drives anymore. they're now only accessible under 'computer'. 
and my ntfs mounts dont show up anymore, their only accessible through filesystem > media

in breezy, everything that was in fstab and mounted in /media would be
visible on the desktop which was a _good_ thing, now it's complicated.
