Stupid I didn't think about that, you are absolutely right.
But to be honest I think the one popupmenu having a submenu with Open With options
and the other just listing them in the popupmenu itself is a bit incoherent, and I don't see
why this shouldn't be coherent.

The apps that do not support gnome-vfs should not be in the list indeed.
