Public bug report changed:

Comment:
It does this:

(dapper) chris at chrislap:~$ ping 127.0.0.1
PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.069 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.059 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.061 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.060 ms

I can log in using my usual ('chris') account. If it was a problem with
the "lo" interface then this would affect all users, wouldn't it?

I was trying to log in with a new user to see whether the 'life saver'
help icon is still on the top panel by default. That's when I noticed
this bug.
