[Bug 76922] GIOChannel not noticing closed file descriptors

Public bug reported:

I noticed that after recent updates gnome-gpg was running away at 100%
CPU.  I tracked it down to the GIOChannel handler.  It seems that
G_IO_HUP is no longer being received.  Compared to edgy, this is a
regression.
