Hi Sebastian,

This is interesting. I thought that the problem was related to the
number of pngs I had cropped then saved, because I'd been working with
10 screen prints that I'd saved to my Desktop. While I was working with
these it appeared that Gimp would crash after I'd done as many as 3 on
one occasion, and 1 on another, but in all other instances 2 files. But
in trying to trigger this problem as suggested I did the following:

I created 4 pngs and saved them to my Desktop as before. Opened Gimp and
cropped each one, saving each of the products as a jpeg. No crash.

However then I remembered that what I had been doing before was to
delete the original png file immediately after I had the jpeg saved
(also to the Desktop.)

This time I'd not been deleting the original png after saving the newly
created jpeg. I'd simply gone on to work on the next png.

So I deleted all 4 pngs and restored Gimp, which crashed immediately.

So the crash may not be related to the cropping and saving per se, but
to changes in the list of files in the directory (in this case the
Desktop), that Gimp in turn is not able to handle?

I can't attach the files I was originally working with the the bug
report because they included copyrighted images. However this might not
be necessary if the bug is not related to the images? I will await your
advice on this.

Thank you for your bug. Can you trigger it when you want with the
cropped png example? Could you attach that example to the bug maybe?
