Public bug reported:

This is a bug in the Window List

The size of a window in the window list (taskbar) changes all the time.
The solution would be to give it a fixed size, for example 80 pixels. When there's not enough room on the taskbar the windows should become smaller.
This bug exist for a very long time in GNOME. Als long as I can remember using GNOME.
It's really important to fix this is bug because it one of the most essential part of the desktop.
It's very important from the usability point of view.
This bus should be fixed in the next version of GNOME or Ubuntu.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
     Assignee: Roel Huybrechts
         Status: Unconfirmed
