Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? The feisty
version has "Backup Settings" option and a "Restore Settings" one, the
settings are stored to a tarball. I'm marking the bug fixed, that seems
to correspond to what you were asking for. If that's not the case feel
free to reopen
