This is actually x86 not AMD64. I had finished dist-upgraded last night,
and that flickering menu thing was happening. I got rid of the
/etc/xdg/debian.menu-menu symlink (which was broken). And the flickering
had stopped. So, maybe it is related to that. Because I tried it a few
minutes ago, and it didn't crash.. so I think its related to that. Sorry
for the false alarm, I guess. But if I put in a symlink that is indeed
broken, it is crashing, so I think thats a bug ?
