i have just tried this in dapper. 1) double click a video file to play it in totem 2) press "f" to go full screen 3) press "q" and totem quits as expected. which focus mode are you using? -- Totem doesn't accept keypresses in full-screen mode until mouse click https://launchpad.net/bugs/42181
