Public bug reported:
Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
I am using Evolution 2.6.1 (2.1.6-0ubuntu1) in Ubuntu Dapper Drake with
newest updates. When I set default character encoding to ISO-8859-1
under preferences -> mail preferences, my mail folders read the mail as
ISO-8859-1 by default. When I look under view -> character encoding, I
see that the "default" option is selected, no problem here.
However, when I create a new mail, this is not by default in ISO-8859-1,
as I have set. I have to manually set the encoding every time under edit
-> character encoding to ISO-8859-1. There is no "default" option here,
when I set the encoding. This means that people using windows (e.g. in
Denmark) will loose my special characters like æ,ø,å,ö and so on, if I
don't manually change to ISO-8859-1.
I think this will pose a problem, since I discovered this by chance. The
default settings should apply here also.
