Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Confirmed

Description:
I've first experienced this problem with the LWJGL and JOGL bindings for
Java. Then I noticed the same problem with the GL Screensavers, and
realized its a problem in the opengl system and not Java related. I did
try planet-penguin-racer and that game renders perfectly, so I can't
make out the issue exactly.

I've taken snaphots of the common Gears screensaver as it is rendered in
a wrong way. If there's any way to attach files to this report, i will.

Best way I can describe the problem is that the depth test for the
rendered scene is not correct. That is objects are rendered as they are
entered into the display loop, and overlap objects even if they are
behind them.
