The ressource issue is rather a message about a sink rather than about the DVD. Dapper uses gstreamer0.10 so the gstreamer0.8-dvd package will be of no use. totem-gstreamer with gstreamer0.10 doesn't do DVD playing for now (it plays the movie but doesn't have menus nor subtitles features by example)

Could you try the audio and video sinks from gstreamer-properties and nothing if they work fine or gave a similar message?
