After deleting "1280x1024" from 24 and 16 bpp depth sections I got 1024x768 with
85 Hz, which is what I wanted.
I'm afraid I don't really understand the reasoning behind closing this as
NOTABUG. Ubuntu has correctly set default resolution and refresh rate for my
desktop as 1024x768 and 85 Hz. This is the choice of the system (not of a user),
and a reasonable one. Why not use the same automatic choice for GDM? I don't
really think this should be configurable by the user - just apply the sane
default you have already found out elsewhere. 60 Hz is bad in any case, unless
you have LCD, therefore IMO it's a bug, and I'm reopening this.
