Summary: GDM should use the same default video mode that is
chosen for desktop (not 60 Hz)
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gdm
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: artem.vakhitov at gmail.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

My GDM login screen has 1280x1024 with the painful 60 Hz refresh rate (and tiny
fonts if not using GTK+ chooser), and my Gnome desktop uses 1024x768 with 85 Hz
by default. Apparently GDM uses the first of the available resolution choices in
xorg.conf (for the current color depth), which may not always be optimal.

Proposed fix: use the same logic for choosing the default video mode for GDM as
for desktop.
