I'm not sure what happened exactly, but I think the mozilla-browser update of
USN-186-1 to version 2:1.7.12-0ubuntu04.10 partly fixed the problem. When
visiting a website with an invalid certificate, Epiphany shows XUL-based
dialogboxes informing the user about a possible security problem like before,
but now, instead of hanging indefinitely after pressing the [OK] button, the
website loads. Everything's not completely fixed yet, as the security icon at
the lower left corner of the screen remains at "Unknown", even for websites with
a valid security certificate like https://www.redhat.com/ for example. This is a
minor cosmetic glitch though.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a sufficient solution for this problem, but
I'll leave it to the ubuntu maintainers to make the final decision on that though.
