          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: esound
        AssignedTo: debzilla at ubuntu.com

When playing mp3 files in beep-media-player OR xmms OR mplayer, and doing
something in the background, the sound starts making little pauses and then
jumps a step forward. sputters is the best word for that, i would say.
i DONT have this problem under hoary and gentoo 2005.1 - i only have it with
breezy - starting at colony2 (didnt test colony1) continueing till now (rc1).
this only happens with esd - with /dev/dsp, all works well!
i have to confess, that under all linux osses (hoary, breezy, gentoo), my sound
has a delay of about 2 seconds through esd (hitting stop in any player means
sound for another 2 seconds) - but it doesnt stutter on the other osses.
