I've fixed the bug upstream. Could you just try to remove the xcursor-themes
package and note if it stil crash? If it crashes could you download
http://pkg-gnome.alioth.debian.org/gnome-mouse-properties (it has been updated),
run it and copy what it says? That should explain why it lists a theme not
installed.
