I'm sorry, but I can't.

I've only seen it happen once, and didn't think of attaching to it with gdb.

What I did do was "strace" it, but absolutely nothing showed up from strace - it
wasn't making any system calls, just burning all my CPU.

In the unlikely event that this happens again I'll try attaching to it with gdb,
although when I just tried attaching to a healthy gam_server I saw:

Attaching to program: /usr/lib/gamin/gam_server, process 6069
(no debugging symbols found)

Are you suggesting I should grab the source and build myself a debuggable version?
