That was my fault. It is ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/volume-manager, not
.../gnome-volume-manager. The only possibility is that this setting already
existed (apparently you opened/changed the preferences in the past). Since you
fixed your local settings manually, and the default is now right, there is
nothing to be done any more here.
