Summary: gdm hangs when entering username
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gdm
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: forgue at oakland.edu
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
GDM in breezy is hanging when I enter a username in the Username box. I am
using LDAP authentication, however I can login to a console just find and I can
do 'id' on my username:
forgue at spica:~ $ id
uid=134967(forgue) gid=1003(staff) groups=1003(staff)
NSCd is not running because it's garbage. What exactly happens is that the X
server starts, GDM starts, I get the default ubuntu screen and type in my
username 'forgue' and the box turns grey and nothing happens. I've let it sit
that way for over an hour. GDM is 2.8.0.4-0ubuntu2. I looked at bug #14763 and
it's not the same as this (I can console login and I don't get a chance to enter
the password).
