i tried it copying from ooo2, closing it, and pasting into gaim.  that doesnt
work.  neither does copying from firefox, closing it, and trying to paste it.  i
just tried this with copying from gedit, closing it and pasting it into gaim. 
that works.  not sure why this only works for certain applications.  hope you
have some idea :-)
