Summary: No audio in gnome / colony 4
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-media
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: john.godzero at gmail.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

When xorg/gdm boots, I can hear the "drumming" chime-in, but no audio at all after that.
It's as if the resource isn't being released.
For instance, when trying to play a .WAV from hd, totem reports "... could not open
resource for writing". Playing an audio CD doesn't work either. (via digital, I don't
have an analog cdrom->audio cable to test analog)
My audio is from ac'97 / intel 845 gv chipset (audio intergated)
ESD is not running, and launching it doesn't help.

May be related to bug #14643
