Today I have just tried rhythmbox (which is not crashing on startup anymore) but
it has the same problem : its tray icon disapear on my computer if you kill
gnome panel.

I have gnome-panel v2.11.92-0ubuntu6 & rhythmbox v0.9.0ubuntu3.

I also confirm that I have this problem with :
- aMule CVS
- Amarok 2:1.2.4-0ubuntu4
- Gaim 1:1.5.0-1ubuntu2

In fact, these are all the apps I tested.. Are you still sure it isn't a
gnome-panel problem ?
