X-Chat GNOME 0.5 is a much superior program IMO. Its UI if much more intuitive
and usable, for one thing its less cluttered. I often use it to go onto the
ubuntu IRC channel. Its also in the repos right now, but I think novice users
will benifit from it being installed as the default as the interface is alot
more learnable and memorable.
