Summary: Detect and enable extra mouse buttons out of the box
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gnome-desktop
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: jon at wordescapes.co.uk
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
I have a mx1000 mouse and I currently have to through a lengthy work-around to
enable the extra buttons.
It would be cool if it did this without having to edit any config files or
install any extra software. Its kidna crazy I still have to do this, windows and
OS X do it out the box
Here is a thread on the forum I started about this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=78711
If you look at the thread for the work-around:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=65471&highlight=howto+logitech
You can see there that is plenty of action on the thread so I think this should
definately be considered for dapper. A gui for configuring it could also be
considered for this.
