The two packages (libxkbfile1_7.0.0-3_i386.deb and
xkeyboard-config_0.6-6_all.deb) do fix this weird theme switching. Thank you :-)

They also fix Keyboard Indicator applet's erratic behaviour which I described in
bug #18118 , but only for NEW user accounts (from /etc/skel).
