Ubuntu | gnome-control-center

Summary: Screen / Monitor can not be manually selected
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
               URL: http://http://vale.homelinux.net/wordpress/?p=32
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-control-center
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: wolfchri at web.de
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

See URL with more URLs to the Ubuntu forums - when PnP screen detection fails on
CRT systems, user is stuck with 60 Hz. Commandline experience is needed to fix
that. A showstopper for Linux beginners, and especially of high impact on older
systems (Africa, India!). Makes Ubuntu virtually unusable for this target group
(try 60 hz yourself on a CRT!). And no, manually editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf is
no solution for this target group, because many user neither have a clue how
they can get information about their monitor specs nor even have Internet to
look that up.

So please move this bug whereever you want, but take this one seriously - there
are so many forum entries that show that people need a solution. I even have
google referals to my own blog searching for Ubuntu refresh rate tools.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
