Summary: GDM is loaded with Live CD: is this really necessary?
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gdm
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: magsilva at gmail.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

Trying the Ubuntu LiveCD 5.10 RC, I run into some problem that required me to
kill the X server. What a surprise was I was given a GDM login screen.
Unfortunately, I couldn't choose a different session type (failsafe, e.g.), so
that login screen was quite useless. If so, wouldn't be a better idea to do not
load the GDM on startup, saving both some seconds of loading time and some memory?
