           Summary: GDM behaving very oddly
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gdm
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: jeff.schroeder2 at us.army.mil
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I just did the most recent update to breezy and rebooted. When gdm loaded up, it
looked (still looks) very odd. Here is the best way to describe it:
If you could take the display and move it 1/2 way off the screen so that there
was a ~4" wide black space in the middle of the screen. The part that got
"pushed off the screen" wrapped around to the other side.

The relevant lspci output follows:
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8623 [Apollo
CLE266] integrated CastleRock graphics (rev 03)

My monitor is a viewsonic vx900 set at it's native 1280x1024 @ 75Hz. There are 2
ways to fix the problem.
1.) CTRL ALT BACKSPACE 3 - 5 times until it correctly detects the display.
2.) Use the autocalibration facility of my monitor.

If I don't fix it and login to gnome, it will fix itsself.
