Summary: GTK 2.x Looses Text Select Through Program Windows
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gtk+2.0
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: dave at mudsite.com
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
I just found this bug when I tried copying a color from one thing in my Gaim
profile to another line. It appears GTK looses text select when another is
made, in ways that it should not be. At least I believe this would result in a
GTK issue, not the programs.
How to reproduce:
1) Open Gaim
2) Enter profile edit tool
3) Select text of which you want to change the color
4) Click the change forground/background color
5) The Color Selection Dialog box openes.
6) Select the text in the Hex Color box to delete and change
7) After selecting the #XXXXXX, type your own value and hit enter to set it.
8) Click ok, note the color of your selected text has not been changed.
To see the issue:
Follow the above, but when the color selection dialog box opens BEFORE you
select the Hex box, move it from over your profiles selected text. Then
continue. You notice that when you select the text in the Hex box, the text in
the profile window has been de-selected. You can remedy this by re-selecting
the text in the profile after changing the colors.
....
I hope I got this right as a GTK issue rather then Gaim is just bad at manageing
text.
