Thanks for the link to the wiki. I was not aware of it.
I followed the directions to create and install totem packages. After starting
totem with gdb I attempted to drag and drop an ogg theora video on totem's video
playback area. Everything froze (with the exception of the mouse, which remained
stuck on the drag document pointer). I had to do a hard reset to get the system
back.
Is it possible totem or X could be sending illegal instructions to the kernel
causing the kernel to choke? Is there any special key combo I can use to regain
control of the system. When the bug occurs I can't kill X or switch to a virtual
console and GNOME is completely unresponsive.
