           Summary: Places menu needs rename
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-menus
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: nwillis at glyphography.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

The top-level "Places" menu needs to be renamed. The term "Places" is vague and
-- what's worse -- doesn't accurately describe the menu items it contains. In
fact, every single item in the menu refers to *file access*: home folder,
bookmarked folders, recently accessed files, special Nautilus directories like
"Computer", remote directories, and file search. None of these are "places" --
they're "things", but more specifically they're directories and files.

For usability's sake, the menu name needs to reflect what the menu entries are
for, and that's Documents or Files. Or some other label; suggestions are
welcome. But the name Places at *best* doesn't communicate anything at all, and
at *worst* is misleading.
