Ubuntu | gstreamer0.8
Summary: "Could not open resource for writing"
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gstreamer0.8
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: murrayc at murrayc.com
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
Totem (on Breezy. I haven't tried Hoary) can not play any sound on my system. I
see an error dialog that says "Failed to play: Could not open resource for
writing.".
I've tried every Audio Input in the Multimedia Systems Selector, but the test
for each one gives me a "Failed to construct test pipeline for" error dialog.
The video test do work (without Xv).
This is an Acer Travelmate 4101WLMI laptop. I guess it's using built-in audio on
the Intel 915GM chipset, though I'm not sure how to find out, and I grepping
dmesg for "audio" and "sound" doesn't give me any results.
Sound doesn't work in Xine either. However, I do hear the Ubuntu login sound.
