Summary: Adding a HP printer is confusing
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-cups-manager
        AssignedTo: martin.pitt at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: pascal.devuyst at gmail.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

When adding a HP printer you have the choice between Manufacturer HP and HP (HPLIP).
To an average user this is very confusing especially since most models appear
under both Manufacturers.
Most of the HPLIP ppds are just a duplicate of the foomatic ppds with the
different Manufacturer name.
>From a user point of view it should be very easy to select a printer driver by
selecting the brand and the model. An average user shouldn't be bothered if he
wants to use ppds from foomatic or HPLIP project, all he cares is that his
printer just works.
