Ubuntu | gnome-volume-manager
------- Additional Comments From swave_1 at yahoo.com 2005-06-28 02:13 UTC -------
I figured out the problem is in gnome-volume-manager, and an assertion that the developers made.
G-v-m (as of hoary) will refuse to start if the 'head' is on another system (DISPLAY variable non-
local). This is problematic, as I have to run a headless Ubuntu system which is managed via a
cygwin xdmcp session from a windoze machine.
On this ubuntu machine, I _must_ have access to any media inserted into its card slot, as the
Ubuntu machine is acting as file server to a group of windoze (later: stripped 'kiosk' linux)
machines.
