Summary: High gam_server CPU load when running Synaptic
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux

Whilst performing some package updates with Synaptic I noticed gam_server
clocking 90% of the CPU.

A quick lsof on the gam_server process showed it monitoring the apt directories.
